Intentional fire

set at Boone law firm
By Melanie Davis

A fire was reported at the rear entrance to Miller and Johnson Law Firm Thursday at 8:15 p.m. The firm is located at 766 West King St.

Boone Fire Marshal Ronnie Marsh determined the fire to have been intentionally set, although the details of that determination have not been released.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze quickly, limiting damage to the exterior of the building only. The damage was estimated to be $5,000 to the doors and surrounding area.

There were no injuries reported in the incident. Watauga Medics were called to the scene as a precaution.

It has not been released whether the law firm was specifically targeted by the person(s) responsible for the fire. It remains under investigation by both the Boone Fire Department and the Boone Police Department.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers at (828) 268-6959 or the Boone PD at (828) 262-4500. Crimestoppers pays rewards for information leading to arrests, recovery of stolen property, seizure of drugs and the location of wanted persons.
