Ken M. Hampton

Mr. Ken M. Hampton, 74, of Bolingbrook, Ill., a native and former resident of Watauga County, died Monday morning, Nov. 24, 2008.
He was a son of the late T.A. and Edna Greer Hampton.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Wells Hampton; one son, Stewart Hampton of California; two daughters, Ramona Eishen and husband, Ted, and Evalee Mark and husband, Paul, all of Illinois; three step-sons, Phillip Phipps of Texas, Lynn Phipps of Oklahoma, and Tex Phipps of Texas; four sisters, Rosella "Kay" Nolte of Millersville, Md., Evalee Stone of Lenoir, Bonnie Steelman and husband, Harold, of Deep Gap, and Margaret Jewell of Raleigh; and one brother, Dale Hampton and wife, Marie, of Boone. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted Saturday morning, Nov. 29, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Bolingbrook. Burial will follow in the Fairmond Cemetery in Bolingbrook.
The family will receive friends Friday evening at Bowlingbrook & McCouley Funeral Home.

Anne McCord Reid
Mrs. Anne McCord Reid, 90, of Boone, and formerly of Birmingham, Ala., died Sunday evening, Nov. 9, 2008, at the Blowing Rock Hospital.
She was born August 27, 1918 in Union City, Tenn. to Virgil David and Annie Emogene Forester McCord.
Mrs. Reid was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Birmingham and was a homemaker.
Surviving are her son, Milton Reid, Jr. and wife, Kay, of Boone; two grandsons, David Reid and wife, Melody, and their daughter, Savannah Reid, all of Winston-Salem, and Sammy Reid and wife, Karla, of Atlanta, Ga.
Graveside services and burial will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 2, at 1 o’clock in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

Belva Ward Cable Wheeling
Mrs. Belva Ward Cable Wheeling, 96, of 1640 Phillips Branch Road, Vilas, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 25, 2008, at Caldwell County Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir.
She was born Jan. 1, 1912 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Jordan Oscar and Molly Cook Ward.
Mrs. Wheeling was a homemaker and was the last living charter member of Willow Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include two granddaughters, Karen Bentley and husband, Eddie, and Mary Teague and husband, Brian, all of Lenoir; one step-daughter, Betty Klutz of Atlanta, Ga.; and one son-in-law, John Greene of Lenoir. She is also survived by two step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Spencer B. Cable; her second husband, Edgar Vernon Wheeling; a daughter, Elba C. Greene; one granddaughter, Susan Keith; one great-granddaughter, Morgan Teague; and one brother, Leonard B. Ward.
Services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, Nov. 30, 2008, at 2:00 o'clock, at Willow Valley Baptist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 1:00 until 2:00 o'clock. Officiating will be the Rev. Ray Greene and the Rev. Benny Greene. Burial will follow in the Willow Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock, at Hampton Funeral Service.

Thomas Helton Prosser III
Mr. Thomas Helton Prosser III, 24, of Etowah, Tenn., died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at his residence.
He was a native of Athens, Ga., and a resident of Etowah for the past ten years.
Mr. Prosser was a 2008 graduate of Appalachian State University. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Thomas Prosser, Jr. and Linda, of Etowah, Tenn.; his mother and stepfather, Beverly and Mike Rutledge of Dacula, Ga.; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Gracie Lynne Gignilliat of Eatonton, Ga., Melanie and Travis Nichols of Etowah, Tenn., Jenny and Chuck Starritt of Sevierville, Tenn., and Chloe Rutledge of Dacula, Ga.; one brother, Nicholas “Nick” Prosser of Milledgeville, Ga.; grandmothers, Wanda Veal of Milledgeville, Ga. and JoAnn Townsend of Etowah, Tenn.; his fiancée, Tiffany Hensley; and his nieces and nephews, Kaleb, MacKenzie and Callahan Nichols, and Gavin Gignilliat.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Thomas H. Prosser, Sr., Dorothy Prosser, Coleman Veal and Cecil Townsend.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, in the South Chapel. Rev. Allen Bates and Pastor Don Harris will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 11:00-2:00 Wednesday prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a special account set up for the family at Citizens National Bank.

G. Glenn Causey, Jr.
Mr. G. Glenn Causey, Jr., 50, of Arlington, Va., died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, in Alexandria, Va.
He was born July 2, 1958, in Washington, D.C., to the late G. Glenn Causey Sr. (Daniel Boone in Horn in the West), and Mary Causey.
Survivors include a brother, Scott Causey of Arlington, Va.; one nephew, Nate Causey; and one niece, Sofi Causey.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.

George Hawley Roberts
Mr. George Hawley Roberts, 79, of Southern Pines, N.C., did Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at Penick Village.
He was born May 25, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pa., a son of the late George and Katharine Hamilton Roberts.
Mr. Roberts was a U.S. Army Signal Corp Veteran serving during the Korean War, retired from Interim Health Care in Charlotte, was a member of Pinehurst Country Club, Country Club of North Carolina, and a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ellie Erickson Roberts; three daughters, Debbie Helms and husband, Raymond, of Chesapeake, Va., Leslie Escue and husband, Steve, and Stephanie Hill and husband, Brian, all of Charlotte; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 25, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church with the Rev. John G. Tampa officiating. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
A memorial service will be held at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Charlotte at a later date.

Jerry Dean Denney
Mr. Jerry Dean Denney, 53, of Clemmons, died Monday morning, Nov. 10, 2008 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
He was born in Watauga County, March 11, 1955, a son of the late Harley Eugene Denney and Gladys Creed Denney.
Mr. Denney was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a computer consultant and a limo driver for Black Tie Limo Service.
Surviving are two sons, Kevin Dean Denney of Winston-Salem and Malcolm Brock Denney of Clemmons; one granddaughter, Avery Brelyn Denney of Clemmons, N.C.; his mother, Gladys Creed Denney of Sugar Grove; one sister, Sandra Denney of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.; one brother, Michael Denney of Sugar Grove; one foster sister, Tammy Minton of Lenoir; one foster brother, Robert Minton of Vilas; his maternal grandmother, Stella Creed of Sugar Grove; and a number of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harley Eugene Denney; his maternal grandfather, Sanford Creed; and his paternal grandparents, Jesse and Rettie Denney
Services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 12, 2008, at 2 o’clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating were the Rev. Ray Greene and the Rev. Derick Wilson. Burial followed at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens. The family received friends Wednesday afternoon prior to the service from 12:30 until 2 o’clock. At other times friends may call at the residence of Gladys Denney, U.S. 321 North, Sugar Grove, N.C.

John W. Propst
Mr. John W. Propst, 85, of 6310 Old Highway 421, Zionville, died Wednesday evening, Nov. 19, 2008, at Mecklenburg Health Care Center in Charlotte.
He was born Sept. 2, 1923 in Catawba County, a son of the late Henry Lester Propst and Maggie Caldwell Propst.
Mr. Propst was a master wood carver and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Reba Combs Propst; two daughters, Sandra Girtman and husband, Charles, of Franklin, Tenn., and Becky Townsend and husband, Neil, of Houston, Tex.; two sons, Larry Propst of Monroe, Ga., and John M. Propst and wife, Mary, of Charlotte; three granddaughters, Lisa Ehrie and husband, Travis, of Franklin, Tenn., Courtney Propst of Peachtree City, Ga., and Amanda Propst of Charlotte; five grandsons, Charles Girtman, III and wife, Kelly, of Franklin, Tenn., William Townsend, and Thomas Townsend, both of Houston, Tex., Jonathan Propst of Peachtree City, Ga., and Michael Propst of Boone; two great-granddaughters, Isabelle Ehrie and Addison Girtman; and one great-grandson, Foster Ehrie, all of Franklin, Tenn.; one brother, Henry Propst and wife, Annie, of Albermarle; and one brother-in-law, Archie Pearson of Taylorsville. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, John W. Propst, Jr., and Mark Allen Propst; and two sisters, Ida Madaris and Nila Jo Pearson.
Services were conducted Saturday afternoon, Nov. 22, 2008, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating was the Rev. Gordon Noble. Military graveside rites and burial followed in Cove Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Warren Williamson
Mr. Warren Williamson, 66, of Peterborough, NH, died Nov. 19, 2008, at Monadnock Community Hospital after a short illness.
He was born in Chicago, Ill., the son of Robert W. Williamson and Dorothy Franzen Williamson.
Mr. Williamson graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, and did graduate work at both the University of Minnesota and the University of Illinois. During the Vietnam War, he served in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army while stationed in Washington, D.C.
He read thousands of books on all topics. His interest in writing eventually led, in 1979, to employment at Byte Magazine in Peterborough, where he worked for over 20 years. He had developed many friendships in Peterborough and remained there after his retirement. He was active in the Monadnock Congregational Church. In mid-life, he discovered the joys of travel and made many trips within the U.S. and to England.
His extensive reading and great retention made him the family source of esoteric information (especially sports-related). Within the family, "Warren says..." was usually enough to end any debate.
Survivors include two brothers, Allan and sister-in-law, Cinda Williamson, of Banner Elk, N.C., and Gordon and sister-in-law, Virginia Williamson, of Hanover, NH; a niece, Lianna Dunten of Hanover, NH; and nephew, Derek Williamson of Bradford, VT.
There will be no visiting hours. A memorial service at Monadnock Congregational Church is planned for 11:00 a.m., Nov. 29, 2008.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Monadnock Congregational Church, 120 Wilton Road, Peterborough, NH.
