Moore, Robertson

out because of injuries
From staff reports

Appalachian State running back Devon Moore (ankle) and defensive end Tony Robertson (foot) are both expected to miss approximately six weeks due to their respective injuries suffered in the Mountaineers’ 35-32 setback Saturday at James Madison.

Moore scored the Mountaineers’ first touchdown on a 6-yard run with 6:37 left in the first quarter. He finished with six yards on five carries before leaving the game late in the first quarter.

Sophomore Robert Welton, who leads the Mountaineers with 256 rushing yards, a sterling 9.1 yards per rush average and six total touchdowns on the season, is in line to make his first-career start on Saturday against Presbyterian. Sophomore Jabari Fletcher and true freshman Lanston Tanyi are both expected to see increased playing time in Robertson's absence.

Devon Moore may miss six weeks with an ankle sprain.

An option for both may be to take an injury redshirt if neither can return for significant playing time this season, according to head coach Jerry Moore.

“It’s hard to say,” Moore said Tuesday. Tony’s surgery is (Wednesday). It’s a possibility that (redshirting) could happen with both guys.”

Parking rules
Appalachian State University has announced parking regulations for this Saturday as the University hosts both Open House and Appalachian's football game with Presbyterian.

All parking lots will be reserved for Open House patrons until 2 p.m. Beginning at 2 p.m., those with Yosef Club parking permits may begin accessing their assigned lots. Because of the unprecedented demand for ASU's Open House activities, tailgating will not be permitted in any lots until after 2 p.m.

Former ASU QB robbed
Former Appalachian quarterback Richie Williams, who led the Mountaineers to their first national title in 2005, was the victim of a theft at his Charlotte-area apartment last week.

Williams, who spends much of the year in Canada as a member of the Canadian Football League’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats, lost many possessions in the theft, including both of his ASU jerseys from the 2005 championship season.

People are asked to be on the lookout for the jerseys either online or in the Charlotte area. Anyone with any information on the theft is asked to call the University City Patrol Division of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police at (704) 432-3900.

ASU falls in rankings
The Mountaineers slipped to No. 3 in The Sports Network rankings and No. 4 in the AFCA poll following their loss to James Madison.

James Madison is No. 1 in the team in coaches’ poll, while Richmond is No. 1 in TSN.
