Appalachian State’s football team will host its annual Fan Fest Saturday at Kidd Brewer Stadium.

Around the area: ASU gets early commitment
Appalachian State’s baseball team got a verbal commitment from Butler standout Tyler Tewell. A rising senior, Tewell hit .398 with 29 RBIs, scored 23 runs, hit four home runs and had 18 extra-base hits.
