Watauga 11-12 softball team
The Watauga 11-12 year old softball team finished 3-2 in the District 7 tournament, good for second place. Former Watauga goal keeper Sarah Caldwell gets one chance to play a prep soccer game. Then she heads to Furman to write another chapter in her sports career.

Wilkes rolls to victory
Wilkes National overcame a first-round loss in the 13-14 year old state Junior League tournament by belting Rutherfordton 15-1 Sunday at the big field at Optimist Park Sunday. The game was stopped at five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.
