sheriff’s reports:

July 8
Larceny was reported at a business on the 200 block of Dale Adams Road in Sugar Grove. A canopy tent, valued at $100, was removed from the rear area of the business.


Larceny was reported on the 200 block of Fairway Knoll, town unspecified. A wrought-iron chair and a small table, total value of $250, were reported stolen from the rental property.

Damage to property was reported on the 200 block of Appaloosa Trail in Boone. The victim reported a storm door window and a front porch gate sustained $100 in damage.

July 9
Stephen Wayne Peyatt, 23, of 6 Congress St. Apt. 5, Granite Falls, was served with an order for arrest for failure to appear at a scheduled court date. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Aug. 13 in lieu of a secured $500 bond.


Breaking and entering and larceny were reported on the 300 block of Gilliam Drive in Vilas. The residence was entered without the use of force and prescription medication, a jar of coins and jewelry were reported stolen.

July 10
Fraud was reported by a business owner on Junaluska Road in Boone. The victim reported a person stopped payment on check after work was completed.


Failure to work after having been paid was reported by a resident on Powder Horn Mountain Road in Deep Gap. The victim reported paying a company $2,205.74 and not receiving the services ordered.


An incident of breaking and entering was reported on the 2200 block of Payne Branch Road in Blowing Rock. The victim reported a person forcibly entering a vacant residence, breaking a $100 door pane.


Grady Austin Potter, 48, of 172 South Road, Todd, was served with a warrant for arrest on charges of second degree trespassing, communicating threats and assault by pointing a gun. He is scheduled to appear in district court on July 22 in lieu of a written promise bond.

July 11
Devin Kirk Swann, 27, of 1021 Brightwest Drive, Raleigh, was served with a warrant on a charge of sexual battery. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Aug. 13 in lieu of a $2,000 secured bond.

Paul Jon Mincey, 43, address listed as Foscoe Golf Shop, was served with a warrant for arrest on a charge of injury to personal property. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Aug. 13 in lieu of a $500 bond.


A lost cell phone was reported by a resident of Roby Eggers Road in Zionville. A person reported losing a pink Motorola Razer phone, valued at $100.

Larceny was reported at a residence on the 400 block of Fairfield Lane in Blowing Rock. The victim reported assorted sterling silverware, valued at $9,597, stolen.


Larceny was reported at a residence on the 600 block of Moretz Road in Boone. The victim reported a television, a rented movie, coffee table, sofa, mirror and a video game were taken from the home while he was at work.

Damage to property was reported at a residence on the 3900 block of Hardin Road in Boone. The victim reported nails were thrown into the driveway of the home.


Larceny was reported on the 3600 block of Meat Camp Road in Boone. The victim reported a wallet, containing $311 and a Discover card, was stolen from a vehicle.

Larceny of a license plate was reported along the side of Edmiston Road, town unspecified.

Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle was reported by a resident on the 1700 block of Vanderpool Road in Vilas.

July 12
Francisco Flores-Martinez, 28, of 191 Summer Drive, Boone, was served with a warrant for arrest on charges of possession with intent to sell and/or deliver cocaine, selling and/or delivering a schedule II controlled substance, conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine, and conspiracy to sell and/or deliver a schedule II controlled substance. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on July 22 in lieu of a $35,000.


Donald Paul Trout, 24, of 350 Stillhouse Road, Sugar Grove, was arrested on view on charges of driving while impaired and simple possession of marijuana. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Aug. 13 in lieu of a secured $500 bond.


James H. Hutson, 57, of 3689 Old U.S. 421, Vilas, was arrested on view on a charge of assault on a female. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center on a 48-hour hold. Hutson is scheduled to appear in district court on Aug. 6.

Damage to property was reported at a community center on the 2600 block of N.C. 194 south. A panel truck was backed into a seamless front gutter, valued at $400.

Larceny was reported on the 500 block of Farthing Hayes Road in Boone. The victim reported $400 in cash stolen.


Assault was reported at a residence on the 400 block of Stone Mountain Road in Vilas. A man struck his sister in the face.


A 1999 Jeep Cherokee was reported stolen from a residence on the 2700 block of U.S. 421 north in Boone. The vehicle was recovered.


Assault on a female was reported at a residence on the 3600 block of Old U.S. 421 North in Vilas.
