Only minor injuries were reported in an accident at the intersection of Mabel School Road and N.C. 421 in Zionville.

John Gleason, 59, of West Jefferson, was traveling southbound toward Boone when a 1988 Buick car crossed into his path.

Josh Stanley, 27, of Zionville, was attempting to cross U.S. 421 from Old Berg Road to Mabel School Road.

He is alleged to have pulled out in front of Gleason, police said.
Gleason was traveling in a 2000 Chevy Van, owned by Boone Drug Inc., and was working at the time of the accident.

The front end of the van collided with the front quarter panel of the Buick.

The van then veered off the road and down an embankment, coming to rest on the side of the vehicle in a creek bed.

Watauga Medics, Zionville Volunteer Fire Department, Watauga County Sheriff's Office and the N.C. Highway Patrol responded to the scene.

Watauga Medics transported Gleason to Watauga Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt.

Stanley was cited by Trooper C. Morgan on charges of failure to yield the right of way and no operator's license.
