ASU film captures Emmy nomination
ATLANTA — Under The Lights: Appalachian State Football — A Date With Destiny, the hour-long documentary produced by FSN South detailing Appalachian State’s historic win over Michigan in the 2007 season opener, has been nominated for an Emmy award by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Southeast Chapter.
ASU softball team inks three players
Appalachian State’s softball team received three commitments for the 2009 season. Joining the Mountaineers next season are catcher/utility Lindsay Whitlock , infielder/outfielder Amber Yarbrough and infielder/outfielder Amanda Brooks. Whitlock comes to Appalachian after batting .346 for Gainesville (Fla.) High School this spring. — From staff reports

Ingle builds Rome
HICKORY — Former Appalachian State standout Randy Ingle needs more than a day to build Rome. Ingle, who was inducted into the Appalachian State Hall of Fame three years ago, is the current manager of the Rome Braves, the low Single-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.
