Former Watauga guard Casey Augustine will play in the East-West All-Star Game in Greensboro this summer.
Augustine will be the first Pioneer to play in the game since 1985 when defensive lineman Paul Craven played in the game.
Augustine, who signed a letter-of-intent to play at Wingate this fall, was part of an offense that rolled up 413 points and an average of 329 yards per game. He was a member of an offensive line that helped the Pioneers finish the 2007 season with a 12-3 record and a second-straight appearance in the state 4-A semifinals.
Augustine was also selected All-State by the Associated Press.
He is not the only Pioneer to play in a postseason all-star game. Running back Eric Breitenstein played in the Shrine Bowl back in December.
Augustine is also not the only Pioneer to sign a letter of intent. Most recently, quarterback Adam Chiarolanzio signed to play at Averett College. Breitenstein signed with Wofford, center Mike Farris signed with Emory & Henry and kicker Savva Kostis will walk-on at Appalachian State.
