Pioneers finish with 5-0 victory

SAWMILLS — Watauga’s girls’ soccer team closed out the regular season with a 5-0 victory over South Caldwell Thursday night.

Watauga got goals from Anna Lisa Hart, Ashlyn Baird, Layla Jones and Austin Williamson. Amanda Beasley also scored for the Pioneers.

Macy Johnson dished out three assists, while Williamson also had an assist for the Pioneers, who finished the regular season with a 13-5-2 overall record 8-2-2 in the conference.


The Pioneers have shut out eight of their last nine opponents. Watauga gave up one goal and went 6-1-2 during that stretch.

Watauga claimed third place in the Northwestern 4-A Conference and will host a first-round playoff game either Tuesday or Wednesday night.
