Crucis 25 to be run Saturday

The High Country Soccer Association will host the inaugural running of the Valle Crucis 25 K Road Race Saturday.

This race will start and end at the Valle Crucis Elementary School. The race, which begins at 8 a.m., goes up Highway 194 to Rominger Road in Matney, where the course turns right onto Rominger Road.

It will follow Rominger road until it ends at the Watauga River Road where the course turns right. The race will continue on Watauga River Road to Highway 194 where it will turn right and proceed back to the Valle Crucis Elementary School, completing the 15 mile loop.

This event is part of the newly created Avalanche Triple Crown of Running, which includes the Valle Crucis 25K on May 3, the Valle Crucis 7 Miler on Sept. 5, and the Running of the Knob on Oct. 5.

To win the Triple Crown runners must compete in all three events and have the lowest cumulative times. Cash prizes totaling $1500 will be awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers.
