HOLLYWOOD, S.C. — Appalachian State’s women’s golf team finished its second day of the Southern Conference Championship in eighth place, 64 strokes behind the tournament leader Furman. The tournament is being held at the Links at Stono Ferry.
Emily Cheves continues to lead the Mountaineers in the championship. After the second day of play, she finished 13-over-par (75-85), dropping her to 25th among the 44 participants. At the end of two days, Cheves is 16 strokes behind the tournament leader Jaclyn Hilea of Furman.
Brooke DeHart moved up after her second day of play, placing her 30th among the 44 participants. DeHart finished the day 11-over-par (82-83). Jordan Kreuter (81-89; t-35), Mary Kate Bowman (86-85; t-37), and Kerri Dice (82-89; t-37) rounded out the scoring for the Mountaineers.
Men’s golf
FLORENCE, S.C. — Appalachian State finished its second day at the Southern Conference Championship in 10th place, 67 strokes behind the tournament leader Chattanooga. The tournament has been held at the Country Club of South Carolina.
Casey Johnson continues to lead the Mountaineers throughout the tournament. Johnson finished the day 13-over-par (74-85), placing him at 15-over-par for the tournament. He finished the day tied for 42nd among the 50 participants.
Jacob Eggers (78-82; 40), Taylor Hines (82-79; 46), Lance Wheeler (79-83; t-41), and Robert Quick (85-81; t-48) rounded out the scoring in the second day for the Mountaineers.
At the end of the second day, these men are tied for 44th, tied for 46th, 48th, and 49th respectively.
