Titans roll by WHS
From staff reports
MARION — Watauga’s softball team scored one run on just four hits and committed three errors in its 6-1 loss to McDowell Tuesday night.
The Pioneers scored their only run in the first inning when Chandler Butler crossed the place on an Emily Baker sacrifice fly. Butler started the rally with a single, moved to second on a Nicole Reilly single and to third on a Beth Wilson walk.
McDowell scored a run in the bottom of the first inning to tie the game 1-1. The Titans took the lead for good in the third inning by scoring two runs. They added two more runs in the fourth to take a 5-1 advantage.
Reilly went the distance on the mound for the Pioneers. She gave up six hits. The Pioneers host Ashe County Thursday and A.C. Reynolds Friday night.

A.C. Reynolds put a scare into Watauga, but could not ruin the Pioneers’ run through the Northwestern 4-A Conference. Watauga (9-2, 9-0 NWC) got two doubles victories to hold off A.C. Reynolds 5-4 Tuesday in a key NWC showdown.
Graham Battle and Steve Lake beat Kyle Anderson and Skylar Warren 10-1 in a pro-set at No. 1 doubles.
Brian Geldmeier and Beau Wilson added a doubles victory in the No. 2 seed with a 10-5 victory over Derek Jager and Trey Peterson.
