ASU splits

with ETSU

Appalachian State’s softball team snapped a four game losing streak on Wednesday afternoon against East Tennessee State by taking the first game of a doubleheader 4-3. The Mountaineers lost the second game 2-0.


ASU’s Katie Boyd put the Mountaineers (5-23) on top 1-0 in the third inning with her seventh home run of the season. The bomb was her fourth of the season, tying her for the single season school record with Keri Blackwelder.


Boyd had a strong game, hitting 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI and a stolen base.

The Bucs (20-26) tied the game 1-1 in the fifth before ASU posted three more runs in the fifth.
