A joint operation between investigators with the Watauga County Sheriff's Office and the Davidson County Sheriff's Office has led to the arrest of Frankie Dale Glenn, 47, of Lexington.

On April 3, Glenn was pulled over in a routine traffic stop on U.S. 421 South for allegedly exceeding the speed limit. Lt. Tim “Bull” Wilson with the Watauga County Sheriff's Office then discovered Glenn's driver's license was revoked.

Wilson deployed his K-9, Boco, to check Glenn's vehicle for potential narcotics. Boco discovered a one-pound brick of marijuana. Glenn was charged with felony possession with intent to sell and/or deliver marijuana, maintaining a vehicle for the sale and use of a controlled substance, speeding and driving while license revoked. He is scheduled to appear in district court on May 13 in lieu of a $25,000 on these charges.

The investigation continued, with the cooperation of the Davidson County Sheriff's Office. On April 7, Glenn was charged in connection to an incident in Lexington involving a 12-year-old female.

He was charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sex offense and taking indecent liberties with a child. Bond was set at $130,000 on these charges.

Glenn remains in custody at the Watauga County Detention Center.
