Deputy apprehends

wanted man

A walk down N.C. 194 for a 32-year-old man has turned into charges.


Deputy Derrick Woody with the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office was on routine patrol in the area of N.C. 194 north on Friday, April 4.


Woody observed a white male walking down N.C. 194 carrying a black bag. Woody approached the male and he ran from the deputy.


Woody pursued the man on foot and apprehended him. The man was identified as Jeffery Todd Hill, 32, of 2588 Highway 321 South, Apt. 10, Boone.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that Hill was wanted out of Johnson County, Tenn., for a probation violation.

Hill was arrested and awaits extradition to Johnson County, Tenn., for the probation violation. He was also charged and arrested for resisting a public officer, simple possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and fugitive from another state.


Hill was taken before a Watauga County magistrate and given a $27,000 secured bond.
