HILLSVILLE, Va. — The Watauga Storm boy’s under-11/5th grade basketball team won the Carroll County Shoot-out March 15-16.
The Storm beat the cave Springs Knights in the finals 34-28. The Storm was led by Hinter Shore, who had 10 points. Matthew Lambert, Zeb Speir and Hunter Isaacs each added six points, while T.J. Poulos had five steals.
The Storm opened the tournament with a 26-25 victory over the Southside Stars of Roanoke, Va. Isaacs had 10 points and Poulos had six for the Storm.
In its second game, the Storm lost to Cave Springs 42-41. Isaacs scored 11 points and Speir added 10. Shore chipped in eight.
The Storm were the third seed of the “A” pool and beat Twin County, the third seed of the “B” pool, 54-27.
Again, Isaacs led the team in scoring with 15 points, while Speir had nine. Adam Greene added eight points and Harrison Cobb chipped in six points and Zach Pifer scored four.
Watauga beat the the Southside Stars 38-32. Shore scored nine points, while Lambert and Speir each added eight. Poulos had seven assists and Greene had four points and four rebounds.
The Storm will play in the Boone Roundball Classic on March 28-30.
