J3 national finals

MASSANUTTEN, Va. — Catalina Lehmann finished third in the slalom race and fifth in the giant slalom race, while Zach Strange was also third in the slalom and fifth in the giant slalom in the J3 Championship at Massanutten Ski Resort in Virginia Feb. 23-24.

Lehmann and Strange have been attending races in West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina every weekend since January. Because they were ranked in the top seven out of all the other racers, they qualified to attend the J3 Finals, which are being held this Sunday through Wednesday at Okemo Mountain Resort in Vermont.

If they place in the top five in Vermont they will be invited to attend the Junior Olympics in March. Lehmann and Strange are members of the Sugar Mountain Ski Team and attend Avery High School.
