When Appalachian State baseball coach Chris Pollard thought about putting together the 2008 edition of the Mountaineers, he knew one thing had to change. “We had to lower our ERA by at least one point,” Pollard said.

Appalachian State’s Whitney Tossie and GiGi Thomas started the second half against UNC Greensboro on a mission. The duo combined for 28 second-half points to push the Mountaineers past UNC Greensboro 58-53 Tuesday night.

ASU hosts Paladins Thursday
There was a time of the season when Appalachian State was one of the hottest teams in the Southern Conference. They had won nine out of 10 games with one of the victories being an upset win over Arkansas. They had scored a minimum of 84 points during a four-game stretch, all victories, and looked ready to run away with the North Division championship. Read more.
