Sheriff’s reports:
All information is obtained from public records available to anyone at the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office. All those charged with crimes are considered not guilty until proven guilty in a court of law.

Jan. 29
Jason Jeremiah Pitts, 21, of 156 Autumn Ridge Road, Boone, was served with a warrant for arrest on a charge of assault and battery. He is scheduled to appear in district court on Mar. 6 in lieu of a written promise bond.

Paul Jerry Jones, 59, of 841 Trivette Circle, Sugar Grove, was served with a warrant for arrest on charges of two counts of failure to file/pay income tax and one count of failure to withhold tax. He is scheduled to appear in district court on Feb. 21 in lieu of an unsecured $1,500 bond.

Keith Andrew Garcia, 20, of 158 One Love Lane, Boone, was served with a warrant for arrest on a charge of assault and battery. He is scheduled to appear in district court on Feb. 21 in lieu of a written promise bond.

Larceny and fraud by misuse of a debit card were reported by a resident of Shiloh Lane in Boone. The victim reported a debit card stolen and used to make purchases.


A gasoline drive-off was reported at a filling station on the 4400 block of U.S. 421 North in Vilas. A person used a two-party check to assure the manager that they would return with payment. The person did not return with the $14 to pay for gasoline.

Assault was reported at a residence on the 900 block of Slabtown Road in Zionville. The victim reported having been assaulted by three assailants.


Deahanne Reece, 33, of 571 Hillside Road, Mountain City, Tenn., was served with a warrant for arrest on two felony charges of trafficking in opium and one misdemeanor charge of possession of a schedule IV controlled substance. She is scheduled to appear in district court on Feb. 21 in lieu of a $10,000 secured bond.

Jan. 30
Nicholas Chad McKinney, 28, of 81 Real Tree Drive, Burnsville, was served with a warrant for arrest on charges of forgery of an instrument and uttering a forged instrument. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Mar. 6 in lieu of a $3,000 secured bond.

Fraud was reported by a resident of Ball Branch Road in Boone. The victim reported a person giving a company their social security number with an incorrect name to obtain credit.
