by storage building fire

Members of the Boone Fire Department had an early morning call Tuesday with a structure fire reported just after 3 a.m.
According to Capt. Jimmy Isaacs, a storage building located at 110 Winter Drive in Boone was well involved when firefighters arrived. The fire also extended to a mobile home.
The department responded with two engines and 10 firefighters. The blaze was controlled within approximately five minutes.
The storage unit and contents were a complete loss.
The structure was valued at $2,500. Officials estimated the contents to be valued at $2,000. The damage to the home was estimated at $5,000.
The residence is rented to Charlotte Bennett, who was at home at the time. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters were on the scene for nearly two hours to ensure the fire was completely extinguished and to remove the melted vinyl siding from the home.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
