Meth lab discovered

in Meat Camp

A methamphetamine production operation was discovered on Jones Drive in the Meat Camp area of Watauga County Sunday evening.

The Sheriff's Office received a call from a neighbor reporting a suspicious vehicle and potential breaking and entering at 438 Jones Drive. The house has been vacant for approximately two years and is owned by a Florida resident.

Upon arrival, deputies heard voices inside and around the home. Deputies performed a safety sweep of the residence, locating four individuals and items allegedly relating to a meth lab.

Officers arrested David Bruce Woodring, 40, of 598 Jones Drive, Boone. He was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and delivery of meth, manufacturing meth, and maintaining a dwelling to manufacture meth. Woodring was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.

Johnny Wayne Ellison, 40, of 303 Tanner Road, Boone, was arrested and charged with manufacturing meth and possessing and/or distributing meth precursors. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond.

Randy Jack Davis, 37, of 943 Sprucy Lane, Mountain City, Tenn., was arrested and charged with manufacturing meth. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond.

Jamey Houston Dowless, 29, of 743 Modock Road, Trade, Tenn., was also arrested and charge with resist, delay and obstructing justice. She was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center under a $1,500 secured bond.

The State Bureau of Investigations clandestine certified officers will be assisting the Watauga County Sheriff's Office Special Operations Unit in securing and decontaminating the house.
