crashes on Old 421

Traffic was stopped on Old 421 in Boone midday on Thursday due to a vehicle rollover.

Donya S. Norris, 36, of Boone was traveling southbound near Dale Adams Road when the 1998 Chevrolet Blazer left the right side of the road, landing on its top in the ditch at 12:30 p.m.

Norris was trapped inside the vehicle.

Members of the Cove Creek Fire Volunteer Fire Department responded and cut Norris free from the wreckage. She was transported by Watauga Rescue to the Watauga County Medical Center.

Norris' condition is unknown at this time.

Sgt. Adams of the N.C. Highway Patrol said icy conditions were not to blame. Norris has been charged with driving while impaired.
