Pedestrian injured
on U.S. 321
A pedestrian was injured at approximately 7:30 p.m. Monday when the individual walked in front of a vehicle on U.S. 321.
John Carlton Williamson, 25, of Boone was attempting to cross U.S. 321 near the intersection of N.C. 105 when the accident occurred. Williamson was crossing from Appalachian Exxon to Wendy’s, when he walked in front of a southbound 1993 Buick, driven by Kyle Dustin Waggoner, 23, of Charlotte.
Williamson was not within a crosswalk, and his line of vision was blocked by a stopped car.
As he stepped from behind the stopped vehicle, he walked directly into the path of the Buick.
Officers of the Boone Police Department have determined Waggoner to have made no contributing factors in the accident, and would not have been able to avoid striking Williamson. No charges have been filed in the incident.
Williamson was transported by Watauga Medics to Watauga Medical Center as is listed in stable condition.
