Watauga sheriff’s reports

Nov. 5
Damage to property and an unsecured vehicle was reported at the courthouse parking on Queen Street. A person left their vehicle without park or parking brake engaged and the vehicle rolled backward.

Nov. 6
Fraud was reported by a resident of Bairds Creek Road in Vilas. A suspect used the victim’s Social Security number to borrow money.

Simple physical assault was reported at a residence on Roby Eggers Road in Zionville. The assault was a domestic dispute.

Fraud by impersonation was reported at a residence on Courtney Taylor Lane in Boone. A suspect impersonated a Blue Ridge Electric employee and collected cash payment for a bill.

Nov. 7
Non-forced entry burglary and larceny was reported at a residence on Georges Gap Road in Vilas. A suspect entered the home and removed $100 in cash.

Larceny was reported at a construction site on Sassafras Lane in Boone. A skid steer was reported stolen.

Cinda Gay Galgano, 49, of 400 Locust St. Apt. 9, West Jefferson, was served with a warrant for arrest for a domestic violence protective order violation. She was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Nov. 21.

Nov. 8
Raymond Clint Townsend, 47, of 2860 Clarks Creek Road, Valle Crucis, was arrested for resisting a public officer, driving without a license and driving without a license. Townsend was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court in Dec. 21 in lieu of a secured $750 bond.

Jamelle Rafi Assad, 51, of 272 Locus Point, Blowing Rock, was served with a warrant for arrest for failure to pay taxes. He is scheduled to appear in district court on Dec. 6 in lieu of a $1,000 unsecured bond.

Breaking and entering, and larceny were reported at a residence on Alpine Road in Blowing Rock. A rear window of the home was forced and a 32-inch LCD television was reported stolen.

Breaking and entering, and larceny were reported at a residence on Ski Acres Drive in Blowing Rock. A front window was forced open and a 42-inch plasma television was reported stolen.

Nov. 9
Amy Louann Dancy, 18, of 1110 Tater Hill Road, Boone, was arrested for driving while impaired. Dancy was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Dec. 6 in lieu of a written promise bond.

Melissa Elizabeth Hitchcock, 34, of 545 Oak Grove Road, Boone, was served with a warrant for arrest for a school attendance law violation. She was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Dec. 21 in lieu of a secured $1,000 bond.

Kimberly Arnold Lefever, 38, of 480 Diamond Ranch Road, Boone, was served with a warrant for arrest for assault and battery and injury to personal property. She was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Dec. 21.

Rebecca Melony Jenkins, 31, of 4640 Meat Camp Road, Boone, was served with a warrant for arrest for a school attendance law violation. She was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Dec. 21 in lieu of a secured $1,000.

Breaking and entering, and larceny were reported at a residence on Bennick Place, Boone. A suspect cut the padlock from a shed and removed $1,115 worth of items.

Larceny of a cell phone was reported on Silverstone Road in Zionville. The victim reported a cellular phone from the motor vehicle.

Nov. 10
Christopher Brent Floyd, 27, of 12 Silverbush Court, Durham, was arrested for disorderly conduct. He is scheduled to appear in district court on Dec. 21 in lieu of a $500 secured bond.

Stephen Wayne Peyatt, 22, of 360 Hodges Valley Road Apt. 1, Boone, was served with a warrant for arrest for assault on a female. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center for a 48 hour hold. Peyatt is scheduled to appear in district court on Dec. 6.


Gunshots were reported at a residence on Winklers Creek Road. An unknown person fired shots at the residence.

Breaking and entering were reported at a residence on U.S. 421 in Vilas. A suspect pried off the doorknob of the home.

Damage to property and communication of threats at a residence on Meat Camp Road in Todd was reported. A suspect kicked in the door of the home.

Nov. 11
Anja Melanie Gugger, 22, of 189 Seven Oaks, Boone, was served with a warrant for arrest for sexual battery and communicating threats. She is scheduled to appear in district court on Dec. 6.

Breaking and entering, and larceny was reported at a residence on Mast Gap Road in Sugar Grove. The front door was pushed or kicked open. Several items were stolen with an approximate value of $3,289.

Nov. 12
Damage to property was reported at a residence on Penley Road in Lenoir. A suspect pulled the braces out from under the deck proof, causing $8,000 in damages.

Breaking and entering, and larceny were reported at a residence on Roberts Drive in Boone. Entry was forced into the home and a rifle was reported stolen.

Larceny was reported at a residence on Watson Drive in Lenoir. A billfold was reported stolen containing $825 in cash.
