Watauga sheriff’s reports
Editor’s Note: All reports are taken directly from Watauga County Sheriff’s Office reports. All suspects or detainees listed are considered legally innocent until proven guilty within the court system.
Oct. 10
Trespassing was reported at a residence on Meat Camp Road. The victim reported a person entered the property without authority.
Fraud and obtaining property by false pretenses was reported by a business on Old 421 South. A suspect wrote a check on a closed bank account to obtain merchandise.
Fraud was reported by a resident of Mast Gap Road in Sugar Grove. The victim reported a suspect used their address to obtain merchandise.
Oct. 11
Larceny was reported at a residence on Winding Way in Deep Gap. A saddle valued at $1,500 was reported stolen.
Breaking and entering and larceny were reported at a residence on Hubert Norris Road, Boone. The victim reported several guns, a large jar of coins and a guitar and case stolen.
Larceny was reported at a residence on David Sides Road in Boone. The victim reported a trailer valued at $1,800 was stolen.
Larceny was reported at a business on U.S. 421 in Vilas. A suspect drove away without paying for gasoline.
Breaking and entering was reported at a residence on Teaberry Hills Road in Boone.
Breaking and entering and larceny were reported at a residence on Meat Camp Road, Boone. The door and a flag pole were damaged, and cash was removed from the home.
Kayla Alline Elledge, 19, of 529 Wentworth Circle NW, was arrested on view charged with misdemeanor larceny. She was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Nov. 13 in lieu of a $500 secured bond.
David Lee Reece Jr., 30, of 525 Hospital Hill Road, Mountain City, Tenn., was served with a warrant for arrest on charges of felony larceny and injury to personal property. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Nov. 13 in lieu of a $3,000 secured bond.
Oct. 12
Damage to property was reported on the roadside of U.S. 221 South. A suspect knocked down two hardcore plastic, wooden frame realty signs, valued at $400.
Larceny was reported by a resident of Deck Hill Road in Boone. The victim reported golf clubs stolen.
Larceny was reported at a business on U.S. 321 North in Sugar Grove. A suspect removed a glass jar with currency.
Brandon Harold Burkett, 16, of 143 Reas St., Boone, was arrested on view and served with a warrant on charges of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen property, and resisting public officer. He was placed in the Watauga County Detenion Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Nov. 21 in lieu of a $6,500 secured bond.
Lesley Arnold Statzer, 44, of 2742 Martha Leeville, Lebanon, Tenn., was served with a warrant for arrest for carjacking. She was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Nov. 13 in lieu of a $20,000 secured bond.
Oct. 13
Damage to property was reported at a business on N.C. 194 North in Boone. A suspect slid a vehicle on gravel, causing rocks to break a window.
Breaking and entering and larceny were reported at a residence on Junaluska Road in Boone. A suspect entering the home and removed batteries, a CD-ROM drive and an MP3 player.
Breaking and entering, larceny, and damage to property were reported at a business on N.C. 105 South in Boone. A suspect cut locks and broke into several buildings on the property.
Breaking and entering, larceny, and damage to property were reported at a residence on Meat Camp Road in Boone. A suspect broke into an outbuilding and damaged several items with a total value of $4,250, and stole items with a total value of $250.
Assault on a female was reported at a residence on U.S. 421 North in Vilas.
Damage to property and assault on a female were reported at a residence on Hensels Lane in Boone. A window pane, chandelier globe and glass table top were damaged in a fight in the victim’s residence.
Frederick J. Hay, 54, of 261 Eastview Drive, Boone, was arrested on view charged with driving while impaired. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Nov. 13 in lieu of $500 secured bond.
Benjamin Juarez Lopez, 30, of 127 Carlin Court, Boone, was served with a warrant for arrest charged with assault on a female. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Nov. 21
Oct. 14
Vandalism was reported at the Bethel Elementary School picnic area. A suspect vandalized the area with paint.
Robert Wilson Stokes III, 41, of 121 Wood Valley Lane, Boone was served with a warrant for arrest charge with being a fugitive of justice. He is scheduled to appear in district court on Nov. 13 in lieu of of $15,000 secured bond.
Oct. 15
Francis David Sherman, 51, of 401 Moore St. Apt. 4, Bristol, Tenn., was served with a warrant for arrest charged with being a fugitive of justice. He is confined at the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Nov. 13 in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond.
Juan Flores Rivera, 22, of 131 Winklers Creek Road Apt. 4, Boone, was served with an order for arrest for failure to appear in court on a charge of probation violation. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
Larceny of a motor vehicle was reported at a residence on Kellersville Road in Banner Elk. A red 1997 Plymouth Breeze was reported stolen.
Communication of threats was reported by a resident of Cody Lane in Vilas. The victim reported a suspect repeatedly calling and text messaging threats.
Breaking and entering and larceny were reported at a residence on Camden Lane in Blowing Rock. A suspect damaged the door frame and stole a 32-inch HDTV valued at $1,800.
Larceny was reported at a business on U.S. 421 North in Vilas. A suspect drove away without paying for gasoline.
Oct. 16
Breaking and entering and damage to property were reported at a residence on U.S. 221 South in Blowing Rock. A suspect entering the home and damaged a rifle valued at $300.
Larceny was reported at a business on U.S. 421 North in Vilas. A suspect cut a chain and drove away with a vehicle trailer valued at $3,000.
Charles Arther Wilson, 35, of 553 Troy Norris Road, Boone, was served with an order for arrest for failure to appear at a scheduled district court date. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Nov. 25 in lieu of an $18,296.18 secured bond.
Thomas Joseph Staufer Jr., 38, of 125 Ray Brown Road, Boone, was served with a warrant for arrest for a charge of sexual battery. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court in lieu of a $1,000 secured bond.
Oct. 17
Eric Mark Coffey, 43, of 118 Long St. Apt. 8, Boone, was served with a warrant for arrest as a fugitive from another state. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Nov. 13 in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
A resident of Tater Hill Road in Zionville reported a lost cell phone valued at $130.
Breaking and entering and larceny were reported at a residence on Aho Road in Blowing Rock. A pistol and medication were reported stolen.
Grady Kenneth Pack, 38, of 443 West Pine St., Mt. Airy, was arrested on-view on charges of resisting public officer and communicating threats. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Nov. 21 in lieu of a $1,500 secured bond.
Gordon Bruce Arnold II, 40, of 1603 Woodside Ave., High Point, was served with an order for arrest for failure to appear at a scheduled district court date. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Nov. 13 in lieu of a $300 secured bond.
Kelly Colleen Ward, 29, of 302 W. King St., Boone, was served with an order for arrest for two charges of failure to appear at a scheduled district court date. She was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Nov. 13 and 26. Two secured bonds were set in amounts of $300 and $25,000.
Uriel Avendano Patino, 21, of 2751 Shallowford Road Apt. C1, Atlanta, Ga., was arrested on-view for charges of driving without a license, operating a vehicle without insurance and failure to wear a seatbelt. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Nov. 21 in lieu of a secured $750 bond.
Georgia Ray Goss, 24, of 235 Cora Lane, Boone, was served with an order for arrest for a charge of failure to appear at a scheduled district court date. She is scheduled to appear in Avery County district court on Nov. 29.
