Though the eyes of the Blue Ridge community have recently focused on the Appalachian State University football team, the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce would like to turn the attention to the staff, faculty and students of the university to say “thank you” for supporting the local business community.
The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce University Relations Committee will host the Fourth Annual ASU Appreciation Week Sept. 24-28, 2007.
The first in a series of events is the Ice Cream Social, scheduled for Monday, Sept. 24 at 12:30 p.m. at Sanford Mall. Ice cream will be distributed to students, staff and faculty.
In case of rain, the location will move under the Student Union portico.
Volunteers are still needed for this event. If interested, contact Lori Inman with the chamber.
The ASU Appreciation Luncheon will be held Thursday, Sept. 27 at 11:45 a.m. at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center with guest speaker Jim Deal, chairman of the ASU Board of Trustees. The cost of the luncheon will be $17.50 per person.
The Wake-Up Watauga breakfast will take place Friday, Sept. 28 at 8 a.m. at the Dan’l Boone Inn.
The cost is $5 per person for a ham biscuit, coffee and juice breakfast with ASU Chancellor Ken Peacock as guest speaker.
The executive committee and board members strongly encourage the ASU community to participate in these events.
Now is the time to invite a guest from ASU, whether it is a student, staff, or faculty to the luncheon. Board members request that regular attendees consider inviting someone different than last year.
Please submit the names of invited guests to Lori Inman or email loriinman@boonechamber.com.
A personal invitation will then be mailed to the guest on the person’s behalf.
In the event the guest has already been invited by someone else, the chamber will contact the person who extended the invitation so they can make another selection. It will be the responsibility of that person to cover the cost of the guest’s luncheon.
For more information, please contact Lori Inman at the chamber office at (828) 264-2225.
