National storms American 11-3

   The folks who run Watauga’s Little League may want to consider expanding Optimist Park.
    Watauga National’s 11-12 year old Little League All-Star team belted four home runs, and Watauga American cracked one more in National’s 11-3 victory Tuesday in the District 7 Little League Tournament. Read more.


Junior’s All-Star has six

hits in two games

   Baker Stanley had one key advantage over two of his 13-14 year old Watauga Junior All-Star teammates. The baseballs he hit over the fence were considered home runs.

   Stanley smacked two home runs, each driving in two runs, and helped Watauga to a 5-2 victory over a pesky Wilkes National team Wednesday night at Optimist Park. Read more.


Watauga National still alive

   MORGANTON — The Watauga National League 9-10 year old All-Star team lost to Morganton 11-1 Tuesday evening in the District 7 Little League Tournament. Watauga started the game strong, loading the bases on consecutive hits by Andy Gilliam, Fer Mora, and Matthew Lambert. Adam Greene then drove in Watauga’s sole run on a fielder’s choice. Read more.

Fast start lifts Wilkes to victory

WEST JEFFERSON — Sometimes, a quick start is all a team needs to win a softball game. Wilkes National scored seven runs in the first inning, which proved to be too much for Watauga to overcome. Watauga ended up on the short side of a 10-2 score Monday night at Ashe County Park in the first round of the 9-10 year old District 7 Softball Tournament. Read more.
