Mountaineers close out home season
Appalachian State’s softball team wraps up its home season at the ASU Softball Stadium when it hosts Radford in a doubleheader Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday will mark the 11th and 12th meetings in the series with Radford holding a 6-4 advantage in the previous 10 contests. The Highlanders have taken the last five games from Appalachian State, including a sweep last season at Radford. Read more.

Elon distance runner Anna Mae Flynn knows what a 3,000-meter run feels like. She ran cross country and the 3,200-meter run at Watauga High School well enough to a position on Elon’s cross country and track teams. Read more.

Avalanche teams close out regular seasons
HICKORY — The under-12 Avalanche girls classic team beat the CVYSA Blast White 2-1, and then tied the CVYSA Blast 1-1. The games were the Avalanche’s final two of the season. Read more.
