Fatality on U.S. 221

A 67-year-old Linville woman died Thursday morning when her Jeep Cherokee hit a patch of black ice and overturned.

Council pops balloon proposal

The topic of balloons floated into discussion at December’s regular meeting of the Boone Town Council.  When the council’s suggested amendments to the Unified Development Ordinance regarding the commercial use of balloons were presented to the Boone Area Planning Commission, the commissioners promptly deflated the issue, recommending denial of the amendments.

Federal grant sparks new equipment for BFD
