MOUNT OLIVE — Larry Nance, a former student-athlete and longtime administrator at Appalachian State, will be one of five inaugural inductees honored at the Mount Olive College Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Saturday on the campus of Mount Olive  College. Nance was largely responsible for initiating the Mount Olive  College athletics program in the mid-1960s.

CULLOWHEE — Armanti Edwards became the first freshman quarterback to lead Appalachian State to a Southern Conference championship two weekends ago. In Appalachian State’s 31-9 victory over Western Carolina Saturday at E.J. Whitmire Stadium, he became the first freshman to lead the Mountaineers to an undefeated SoCon season and an outright title.
