Sheriff’s report:

Aug. 17

Someone used the Social Security number of a Boone woman to make a fraudulent purchase.

A Zionville woman said she was assaulted by a trespasser.

Aug. 18

A deputy reported finding narcotics in a vehicle on Old Shulls Mill Road just before 9 p.m.

A digital camera and battery cables were reported stolen from a car on Bluestone Wild Road, sometime between Aug. 7 and 12.

A Boone man said he was defrauded after sending money for an online purchase.

A burglar reportedly kicked in the front door of a Deep Gap home on Medicine Man Lane and stole a 26-inch LCD TV.

A vehicle windshield was shattered Aug. 5 by a shot from a BB gun.

More than $2,000 in tools were reported stolen from a construction site in Blowing Rock.

Kenneth Eugene Frost, 41, of 111 Paul Gaither Dr., Boone, was served with a warrant alleging unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was released on his written promise to appear in District Court Sept. 1.

Christian Spigner Metts, 37, of 101 Windy Gap Rd., Blowing Rock, was served with a  warrant alleging he failed to pay sales tax. He was released on his written promise to appear at a District Court hearing Sept. 12.

Aug. 19

A 40-year-old resident of a residential care home at 1173 Highland Hall Rd., Boone, reportedly failed to return to the facility.

A domestic dispute on the 9000 block of N.C. 105 S, Banner Elk, ended with a mutual assault.

A Deep Gap woman said a neighbor threatened to shoot her dog.

A black plastic mailbox was demolished by pyrotechnics.

A 20-year-old Boone woman said her boyfriend hit her in the head and injured her leg with his car door.

A Long Hope Road resident said her boyfriend broke into her house through a bedroom window and damaged a door frame.

A Jimmy Billings Road office was broken into and eight firearms stolen.

Two Zionville residents said they’d received harassing phone calls.

Aug. 20

Telephone threats prompted a call from a Boone man.

A check book and $15 in cash were stolen from inside a car parked on the 1200 block of U.S. 321 N.

William Andrew Brown, 24, of 10548 U.S. 421 S, Trade, Tenn. was served with a warrant charging him with being a fugitive from another state. His bond was set at $5,000 and a District Court hearing scheduled for Sept. 1.

Aug. 21

A 47-year-old Todd man said he was assaulted and robbed of his wallet and $200 in cash on Bluebird Lane, in Boone.

A prowler was reported acting suspiciously by video taping a convenience store on the 1700 block of N.C. 194 N, just after 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 19.

Louis Alberto Botello Sanchez, 26, of 218 Bluebird Lane, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault and battery. Sanchez reportedly posted a $500 secured bond and is scheduled to appear Oct. 10 in District Court.

Aug. 22

A deputy reported that his drug dog discovered marijuana during a 10:50 p.m. vehicle stop at the intersection of Broadstone Road and N.C. 194 S.

A Ball Branch Road woman said an identity thief had opened a credit card account in her name.

A burglar reportedly broke into a Meat Camp Road home sometime between Aug. 13 and 17, stealing a washing machine and other items.

Denee Lee Battelli, 38, of 261 Mark Hampton Rd., Blowing Rock, was arrested and charged with communicating threats. He was placed under a $500 bond and scheduled to appear in District Court Sept. 1.

Joel Alvin Ivey, 23, of 1220 Stone Mountain Rd., Vilas, was arrested and charged with failure to appear on charges on an Aug. 2 Wake County warrant. His bail was set at $500 and an Oct. 26 hearing scheduled for Raleigh District Court.

A drug or alcohol fueled dispute between a 47-year-old Deep Gap woman and her ex-boyfriend reportedly resulted in no injuries.

Someone stole 300 gallons of diesel fuel from paving equipment parked on Dove Acres, in Vilas.

Dereck Ray Burkett, 19, of 120 Rochelle Oaks Rd., Boone, was arrested and charged with speeding, driving while impaired, driving with his license suspended or revoked,  and felony fleeing and eluding arrest. He was placed under a $2,000 secured bond and scheduled to appear Oct. 10 in District Court.

Aug. 23

A 30-year-old Blowing Rock man complained that his girlfriend had threatened to have him arrested on false charges.

Three chain saw-carved bears were reported stolen from a Broadstone Road business.

Samuel Craig Horton, 45, of 560 Junaluska Rd., was arrested and charged with driving while impaired and a misdemeanor probation violation. He reportedly posted a $5,000 bond and was released pending a Sept. 22 hearing in District Court.
