County boards select high school property
About 200 people turned out at a public hearing where the county commissioners and school board announced plans for the future of Watauga high school. The boards’ working plans are to establish a $36 million asking price for the current 75-acre high school property and pursue an 85-acre land purchase and new construction on the eastern side of Boone in the Perkinsville area.

Accused offender could remain ‘in limbo forever’

The following are incidence reports from the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office: July 11 – A 1989 Jeep Wrangler was broken into on N.C. 105 near Old Shulls Mill Road between 12:30 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. A wallet, pocket book, $360 in cash, cell phone, driver’s licenses and Social Security cards were reported stolen.
