Mrs. Bobbie Hale Dooley
Mrs. Bobbie Hale Dooley, age 66, of 204 Doe Valley Lane, Deep Gap, died Monday morning July 24, 2006 at home, following a lengthy battle with ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease).
Born May 30, 1940, she was a daughter of Doris Sellers Hale and the late Luther Hale. Mrs. Dooley was a Registered Nurse, having graduated from the Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta, GA. Bobbie worked as an RN at Grady Hospital and at the Veterans Hospital in Atlanta, and at Lenoir Living Center, Vespers (Avante) Nursing Home in Wilkesboro, and Charleston General Hospital in Charleston, WV. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Boone.
Surviving are: her husband, Frank W. Dooley, one daughter, Jennifer Hendrix and husband Tim of Deep Gap, one son, Mark Alan Hendrix of Bradenton, Florida, one grandson, Adam Hendrix of Deep Gap, her mother, Doris Sellers Hale of Porterdale, Georgia, three sisters; Mary Jo Studdard and husband Kent of Watkinsville, GA, Diane Clegg and husband Bobby of Social Circle, GA, and Judy English and husband of Conyers, GA, one brother, Ronnie Hale and wife Evelyn of Mansfield, GA and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Bobbie Hale Dooley will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the First Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be Rev. Jeff Clegg. Inurnment will be private. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon following the service from 3 until 4 o’clock in the Fellowship Hall of the First Presbyterian Church. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of Watauga County, 136 Furman Road, Boone, NC 28607.

Donald G. Harris
Mr. Donald G. Harris, 76, of Raleigh, N.C., died Friday, July 21, 2006 at Rex Hospital.
A native of Asheville, N.C., he was born on Feb. 28, 1930 to the late William Osmond and Nell Mosseller Harris.
Mr. Harris served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, from 1953-1955. In 1987, he retired from Hardees Food Systems as Senior Vice President.
He filled his life with devotion to our Lord and his family. Nothing made him happier than to be surrounded by those he loved. He was a member of Bay Leaf Baptist Church and cherished the many friends he made there. Many people were touched by his quiet kindness and sense of humor. He will forever be missed.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Joan Baird Harris; three loving daughters, Donna Ayscue, Janet Petree and husband, Mark, and Patty Imperial and husband, Bob. Also surviving are sisters, Rosalind Boss and Betsy Evans; grandchildren, Rebecca Eaddy and husband, Ellis (and soon to arrive, Aaron Eaddy), Matthew Griffin, Sarah and Rachel Imperial, Kyle and Devin Ayscue and Katy Harris; as well as nephews, William O. Harris, III and John B. Harris.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, William Osmond Harris, Jr. and his niece, Penelope Harris.
Services were conducted Monday afternoon, July 24, at 2 p.m. at Bay Leaf Baptist Church, 12200 Bayleaf Church Road, Raleigh, with the Rev. Will Gatling officiating. Burial followed in Raleigh Memorial Park.

Clara Hicks Trivette
Mrs. Clara Hicks Trivette, 85, of 4204 Andy Hicks Road, Banner Elk, died Sunday morning, July 23, 2006, at the Life Care Center in Banner Elk.
Mrs. Trivette was born May 11, 1921 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Andrew “Andy” and Susanna Presnell Hicks. She was homemaker and member of Faith Baptist Mission Church.
Mrs. Trivette is survived by two daughters, Janice Coffey and husband, Howard, of Clemmons, and Betty Trivette of Lexington; four sons, the Rev. Richard Trivette and wife, Margaret, Dean Trivette and wife, Pauline, all of Banner Elk, Roy Trivette and wife, Connie, of Lexington, and Marvin Trivette and wife, Mary, of Banner Elk, in Watauga County; six granddaughters, Patricia Hurst and husband, Jim, of Bardstown, Ky., Rebecca Bivens and husband, Keith, of Banner Elk, Tammy Colbert and husband, Brian, of Vilas, Angela Scott of Lynwood, N.C., Kriston Jolly and husband, Thomas, of Lexington, and Stephanie Trivette of Banner Elk; four grandsons, Stevie Trivette of Banner Elk, in Watauga County, Mark Coffey of Clemmons, David Trivette and wife, Emily, of Port Richey, Fla., and Brandon Trivette of Banner Elk, in Watauga County; one brother, Ben Hicks of Banner Elk, in Watauga County; and a special niece and friend, Pearl Hicks, and great-niece, Joy Dickens, both of Banner Elk, in Watauga County.
Eleven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lemmie Trivette; two grandsons, Calloway Paul Trivette and Timothy Dean Trivette; and 12 sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning, July 26, at 11 a.m. at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state from 10 until 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Richard Trivette, the Rev. Mike Townsend and Pastor Joe Ingham. Burial will follow in the Trivette Family Cemetery.
The family received friends Tuesday evening, from 7 until 8:30, at the funeral home.

David Burchette
Mr. David Burchette, 33, of 1790 Meat Camp Road, Boone, died Friday afternoon, July 21, 2006.
He was born March 17, 1973 in Wilkes County, a son of Glendora Burchette and the late Glen Burchette.
Mr. Burchette was a painter and a member of Meat Camp Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Potter Burchette; two sons, Wayne Perry Burchette of the home, and Deven Glen Burchett; one daughter, Dana Ashley Burchette; one brother, Joseph Burchette; one sister, Yolanda Owens and husband, Richard; and his mother, Glendora Burchette, all of Wilkesboro; his maternal grandmother, Dana Wristen of West Virginia; his father-in-law, Gary Potter and wife, Beth, and his mother-in-law, Dovie Evans and husband Ronald, all of Todd.
Services will be conducted Monday afternoon, July 24, 2006, at 2:00 o'clock, at Meat Camp Baptist Church. The body will lie in state from 1:00 until 2:00 o'clock. Officiating will be the Rev. David Clippard. Burial will follow in the Meat Camp Baptist Church Cemetery.

Martha Price Fox
Mrs. Martha Price Fox, 79, of Taylorsville, N.C., died Thursday, July 20, 2006 after a courageous fight with cancer.
She was born Dec. 2, 1926 in Iredell County, to C. Jeff Price and Neva Payne Price, both of Taylorsville.
Mrs. Fox grew up in Taylorsville and graduated from Rowan Hospital School of Nursing and began her nursing career as a Registered Nurse at Babies Hospital in Wilmington, N.C. While there she married Jay Clyde Fox, her husband of 57 years.
She continued to enjoy her love of nursing and worked throughout the state of North Carolina from Wilmington to Wake County where she was Regional Supervisor for the State Commission for the Blind to Watauga and Iredell County Health Departments until she and Jay Clyde made their permanent residence in Taylorsville where Martha worked as a Public Health Nurse for Alexander County.
With the birth of her first grandchild in 1984 Mrs. Fox changed her profession from nurse and mother to grandmother and retired to spend all of her time with her family and church activities. Through her years at Taylorsville Presbyterian Church, she served as a Sunday School Teacher, a Deacon, and an Elder. She was very active in the Women of the Church and was awarded a Lifetime Membership for over 40 years of active service for her Women of the Church activities.
Survivors include her husband, Jay Clyde Fox of Taylorsville; sisters, Louise Price Herman, and Elizabeth “Lib” Price Shoemaker and husband, Howard, both of Taylorsville; brothers, William “Sonny” Price and wife, Brenda, and Robert “Bob” Price and wife, Millie, all of Taylorsville; a daughter, Jan Fox Barringer and husband, Bill, of Taylorsville; three grandchildren, Amanda Lee “Mandy” Barringer, Jessica Brooke “Jessy” Barringer and William Jay Fox II, also of Taylorsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her only son, William Jay “Bill” Fox; her parents, Jeff and Neva Price; her brothers, George C. Price, Joe P. Price, Hayden P. Price, Charlie “Jim” Price; and her sisters, Mary P. Payne and Pauline P. Deal.
Services were conducted Saturday, July 22, at 4 p.m. at Taylorsville Presbyterian Church. Graveside rites immediately followed the service at Taylorsville Cemetery.

Olivia Roark Greene
Mrs. Olivia Roark Greene, 54, of 193 Shannon Court Road, Deep Gap, died Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at Watauga Medical Center.
She was born July 22, 1951 in Watauga County, a daughter of Verlene Aldridge Roark and the late Ernest Roark.
Mrs. Greene was a retired employee of I.R.C., and a member of Mount Paran Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Greene; one son, Nathan Greene of Orlando, Fla.; her mother, Verlene Aldridge Roark of Boone; one sister, Elaine McGuire and husband, Gary, of Vilas; and two nephews, Dwayne McGuire of Boone, and Nelson McGuire and wife, Kelly, of Vilas. A number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Dallas S. Greene.
Services were conducted Saturday afternoon, July 22, 2006, at Mount Paran Baptist Church. Officiating was the Rev. Rick Cornejo, the Rev. Zane Tester, and the Rev. David Testerman. Burial followed in the Mount Paran Baptist Church Cemetery.

Richard Terry ‘Rick’ Holder Sr.
Mr. Richard Terry “Rick” Holder, Sr., 69, of Lazy Way, Boone, died Friday morning, July 21, 2006 at his home.
He was born Sept. 8, 1936 in Pelham, Ga., a son of Shelly Henderson Holder and Dora Waller Holder.
After graduating from Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C. in 1958, Mr. Holder taught school before entering the military. Major Holder served in the U.S. Army for 13 years in Korea and Viet Nam before being discharged with a medical disability. Following his discharge, he graduated from Mercer Pharmacy School and practiced for 25 years. In the early 1980’s he obtained his Master’s Degree from Southeastern Seminary, then began a duel service, as a B-Vocational pastor and pharmacist. He was forced to retire in 1999 due to a stroke. Mr. Holder was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Helen Machree Holder; three sons, Richard Terry Holder, Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., Rustin Michael Holder and wife, Cynthia, of Owensboro, Ky. and Benjamin Shelly Holder and wife, Kelly, of Lake Norman; and two daughters, Faith Machree Hyche and husband, Mike, of Statesville and Nichole Machree Hood and husband, Robin, of Boone. Seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter also survive.
Services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 1 o’clock at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Bud Russell and Dr. Jeffrey Sutton. Burial will follow in the Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Moldova Missions Fund, in care of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 3505 Bamboo Road, Boone, N.C. 28607.

Ruby Byers Michael
Mrs. Ruby Byers Michael, 91, of Boone, died Thursday morning, July 20, 2006, at Watauga Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 12, 1914, in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Carl and Ennis Norris Byers.
Mrs. Michael was a graduate of the Johnson City Business College in 1936. She was a bookkeeper for many years at the Northwestern Bank, and a member of Meat Camp Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, David Michael and wife, Carol, of Boone; one sister, Opal Banner and husband, Jack, of Boone; one granddaughter, Dawn Olivardia; two great-granddaughters, Nina and Grace Olivardia, all of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Maureen Michael of Orlando, Fla.; and two step-grandchildren, Kim Baird of Lenoir, and Scott Baird of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Michael; one son, Norman Michael; and one brother, William Byers.
Services were conducted Saturday morning, July 22, 2006, at Meat Camp Baptist Church. Officiating was the Rev. David Clippard. Burial followed in the Meat Camp Baptist Church Cemetery.
