Callahan takes on East, next stop Charlotte
GREENSBORO — It was not exactly the way Jennifer Callahan pictured her final soccer game as a prep player. Callahan’s West All-Stars were beaten 5-0 by the East in the East-West All-Star game played at UNC Greensboro Tuesday night. The East took a 2-0 halftime lead, outshot the West 20-6 and kept the pressure on the West for most of the game.

Future Mountaineers make impact in game
GREENSBORO — The first half, the East-West All-Star football game, played Wednesday at Grimsley High School, belonged to the Northwestern 4-A Conference. Freedom receiver Curtis Bristol caught two touchdown passes and A.C. Reynolds tailback Willie Harper added a 1-yard run — all in the first half — to stake the West to a three-touchdown over their East rivals.

Wilkes holds off Watauga National 8-7
MORGANTON — Watauga National saw its dream of winning a District 7 Little League championship fall short Monday. National fell behind early and saw its rally fall short 8-7 to Wilkes National.

The heart of the Watauga National 11-12 year old All-Star team’s batting order came through with the key hits when they needed them in National’s 5-3 victory over Wilkes American in the District 7 tournament Saturday at Optimist Park.
