Davis’ blast sinks Bulldogs

Kari Davis made her first collegiate home run a memorable one, hitting a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Appalachian State to an 8-7 win over Gardner-Webb in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon. The Mountaineers beat the Bulldogs 3-1 in the first game to pull off the sweep.

It’s always good to beat a rival. It’s even better when a possible playoff berth is in the balance. Watauga’s baseball team did just that when it beat visiting Alexander Central 10-7 Friday at the Pioneers’ field.
