Evans captures 4-A state championship
RALEIGH — Watauga’s top girls’ tennis player, Anna Lee Evans, spent the weekend taking on the best in the state and showing them that they still had a ways to go before reaching her level. Evans started fast and never looked back in winning the individual 4-A state championship at Millbrook Exchange Park.

Just good enough
It was not terribly artistic. In fact, it was rather sloppy. Certainly Appalachian State has played better games this year. But rest assured that the Mountaineers won’t give back their 35-25 homecoming victory over Chattanooga in front of 22,338 at Kidd Brewer Stadium Saturday.
