WEST JEFFERSON — With a 29-12 win over Ashe County Friday, the Watauga football Pioneers are exploring new territory under second-year coach Adrian Snow. The win puts them above .500 with a record of 3-2 and marks the longest win streak, although just two games so far, under Snow.

WEST JEFFERSON — The numbers definitely leaned in Ashe County’s favor. The Huskies had scored 114 points in three games. Their only loss before Friday night was a 21-14 loss to Avery. They had big play ability flying out of an athletic and well-conditioned backfield.

The next few days will be fairly busy for Watauga athletics, with three teams playing easier matches at home tonight before traveling Tuesday or Wednesday for a game against a stronger conference opponent.
