17-year-old begins serving
five-month split sentence in teen’s shooting
Seventeen-year-old Michael Reed Replogle II began serving a five-month split sentence in the Watauga County Jail Friday for the shooting death of Mabel School eighth-grader Tabitha Bumgardner. A jury convicted Replogle of involuntary manslaughter Thursday following about
eight hours of deliberation. Judge Richard Daughton also ordered Replogle to pay $12,850 in restitution to the Bumgardner family and $3,041 in fines and court expenses.
