Isaacs trial: Victim used meth
Watauga County medical examiner Dr. Brent Hall testified Thursday in the trial of Richard Smith Isaacs and confirmed that blood drawn from the victim contained quantities of methamphetamine and amphetamines at the time he was killed.

Isaacs trial begins Monday; court transcript reveals eyewitness accounts of Christmas shooting
In April 2004 a local judge heard District Attorney Jerry Wilson’s case against Richard Smith Isaacs and decided it wasn’t enough to put him on trial for second-degree murder. Barely a week later, a Watauga County grand jury indicted Isaacs anyway.
