‘The Cub’ road race debuts June 18
Nearly three weeks before this year’s 5K run up Grandfather Mountain, known as “The Bear,” which kicks off the Highland Games, a 7-mile road race dubbed “The Cub” will make its inaugural run through Valle Crucis June 18.

WHS grad earns academic honor
ELON — Elon junior men’s cross country runner John Tumbleston was tabbed to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III University Division Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country Team. He was also named an Academic All-District selection last year.
