And the winner is...
Wendy Smith of Blowing Rock Elementary School (back row, second from right) was named the Watauga County Schools 2005-06 Teacher of the Year on Friday morning. Smith and the other teacher-of-the-year representatives from each of the county’s public schools were honored Thursday during the WCS Teacher of the Year Banquet. A Ferguson man was killed Wednesday night when his motorcycle was struck by a car on U.S. 421 about four miles west of Wilkesboro, according to Trooper D.W. Hollars of the N.C. Highway Patrol. At press time, a Boone woman remained in custody on charges related to the wreck.
